Black and White Laundry Room
Meg Ruth gave her laundry room a makeover and it looks fantastic! Here’s the before photo.
Meg said “We moved into our house in August of 2020. When we moved in, the laundry was in the basement. The basement stairs were horrible and the ceiling was so low that I had to duck as I walked down with the hamper. As soon as we bought the house I came up with an idea to enclose a purposeless alcove off of our living room and move the laundry room up a floor. We called a local contractor (AW Home Construction) and they said it would be super simple to make happen. They moved the washer and dryer up, ran new plumping/electric and put up dry wall. They also hung the antique door that I had painted- which I found for $10 on facebook marketplace. I opted to paint the walls myself to save some money and rather than use wallpaper, I did the pattern myself with painters tape. The construction crew also built the frame beneath the washer and dryer and they left the extra wood for me to make the shelves on the wall. This room gets an incredible amount of light so I knew I wanted to have lots of plants in there if I could, so large shelves were necessary. I wanted this room to be both a laundry room and utility closet, so the roomba/vacuum are on the right side of the dryer and the broom/swiffer are on the left side of the washer. I keep tools we use often and extra cleaning products in the baskets. We don’t plan to live here forever and someday when we move, this will be the hardest room to leave behind.”
