How to Cover Wire Shelving on a Budget
Michelle Beau said she couldn’t stand the look of white wire shelving and was determined to give it a farmhouse look on a budget! Above is what her pantry looked like before…
And here is the after! She said it was a weekend project! It looks fabulous!
Michelle explained “I removed EVERYTHING measured and cut dollar tree foam boards. Total cost $10. Then I covered them with wood pattern shelf liner. $10. Also cut the thin flap and covered with the liner. So you wouldn’t see any wired shelf. . After I measured the “shelf” piece I measured how wide the “flap” has to be. As you see I worked both sides of the center vertical steel piece (which I may cover with nautical rope) so once I knew how wide I needed it to be I just copied the length of the shelf piece. I attached the 2 pieces with clear packing tape from the back half the tape going down one piece and half the other then folded to make a crease so it would hang at 45 degree angle down. Attaching the tape after I covered the foam board with the wood pattern shelf liner. I love it so much. The hyacinth baskets I got from Walmart. 3 for $15 I bought 2 packs. And bought some glass jars and bowls with lids to hold smaller quantity items. I also got the clear canisters with the white lids from Walmart. $14 for a 3 pack I think…I got 2 packs. Under $100 redesign!”
